Guantanamo release

The al-Jazeera camera operator Sami Al-Hajj, held by the Americans in the Guantanamo camp in Cuba since 2002, was freed on May 2, as the Journalist went to press.

The NUJ had supported the worldwide campaign for his release.

Sami Al-Hajj , who is Sudanese, had been on a protest hunger strike since January.
