Union is there for you when things change
If there is anyone out there who is not a member of the NUJ, then I can give you a good reason to join. He’s called Barry Fitzpatrick, the National Newspapers Organiser, and in times of trouble you could not wish for more solid support and shrewd advice.
It’s easy when things are going well to think that you have a long career ahead of you, but things change and, when they do, at least you still matter to the union.
Thank you to Barry, Ramola Patel, his assistant, Roy Mincoff, the legal officer and Charlotte Moore of Thompsons solicitors for their crucial part in securing a satisfactory outcome and closure to my recent experience.
