The NUJ is gearing up to fight yet another round of job cuts at the Express group in London, where 70 jobs are under threat. Union official Barry Fitzpatrick said: “It’s inconceivable that they can produce competitive newspapers with the level of staff that will remain if these cuts go through.”


NUJ members at Penguin books in London are demanding that there should be no compulsory redundancies as the firm plans to cut 100 jobs — one in ten of the workforce.
