Ron, a real pal
I WAS saddened to read of the death of Ron Knowles, a generous colleague. When I joined the Daily Herald in 1964 he was going on holiday and let me have his flat for a week so my family could join me while we looked for a house. Later, when I was on The Times in Gray’s Inn Road and he was editor of the Journalist, we enjoyed a few drinks together.
