Criminals on NEC, racist fantasies in the Journalist
EAMONN MCCANN, whom you describe as a “prominent freelance” in Northern Ireland, may boast of being acquitted of committing an act of criminal damage to which he freely admits (last issue) and may not be “concerned” at having acquired a criminal record for stealing computer desks, but a convicted criminal ought not to be representing members on the NUJ National Executive.
As for his views, which will no doubt be of great interest to the anti-terrorist squad, it is also not appropriate for an extremist to serve in a prominent position in our union. Journalists reporting news are supposed to be impartial and objective but you would never guess it from the racist fantasies promoted in the Journalist.
