Save up to £150 on Apple’s stunning new laptops

NUJ members can save up to £150 by buying one of Apple’s new family of laptops through the union.

They feature all-metal enclosures and high-performance graphics. The new MacBook and 15-inch MacBook Pro both have a precision enclosure crafted from a single block of aluminium, resulting in thinner, more durable and beautiful designs.

Every member of the new MacBook family includes brilliant instant-on LED-backlit displays and new large glass Multi-Touch trackpads that offer almost 40 percent more tracking area and support more of Apple’s groundbreaking Multi-Touch gestures. The entire family also meets stringent environmental standards and leads the industry in the elimination of toxic chemicals. They use energy-efficient LED-backlit displays that are mercury-free and made with arsenic-free glass.

At only 25 millimetres thin and weighing just two kilos, the new 13-inch full-featured aluminium MacBook is an incredibly compact and durable notebook. The 2.0 GHz model is at £949 on Apple’s own website, but NUJ members can save £57 by buying it through the union. The most economical 13-inch MacBook is £719 from Apple and £675.63 through the union – a saving of £43.37.

The MacBook Pro uses the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors, running at up to 2.8 GHz.

It is available in two models: a 2.4 GHz model with a 250GB hard drive and a 2.53 GHz model with a 320GB hard drive.

The updated 17-inch MacBook Pro keeps its original aluminium design but now comes with a high resolution 1920 x 1200 LED-backlit display as standard and a larger 320GB hard drive or an optional 128GB solid state drive. It costs £1,949 from Apple but £1,793.05 through the NUJ – a saving of £155.95.
