Masked men wreck Greek daily paper
A GANG of masked men carrying iron bars and throwing stones stormed the editorial offices of the Greek daily paper Apogevmatin in February, causing extensive damage.
The Journalists’ Union of Athens Daily Papers condemned the raid, the second on a media house in ten days, as a new attack on press freedom.
In the earlier incident armed men forced their way into the studios of Alter TV, a private station in Athens. They fired shots and exploded devices shortly before the main news broadcast.
The attack was blamed on a group called Sekta Epanastaton. A week earlier a letter had been sent to a daily newspaper threatening to kill well-known journalists working for Greece’s main TV stations.
