Member of Honour dies
NUJ MEMBER of Honour Douglas Sloan has died aged 94. He was a former editor of the Portadown Times and a long-serving Belfast Telegraph staff reporter. He began on the Fermanagh Times in 1930, rising to become editor and took over in Portadown in 1944. In 1973 the paper was sold and he joined the Telegraph.
He was a member of the Upper Bann Unionist Association, the Orange and Black institutions and the Masons. He was made a Member of Honour in 1986.
