The way to win local union support

I WHOLE­HEARTEDLY support the call by Vicki Morris to “support your local Trades Council”. They are the local voice of the trade union movement, attended by local delegates.

My Trades Council discusses local issues brought to it by branches of local unions. I have raised issues and campaigns on behalf of the NUJ and have given out postcards to be sent to MPs and Ministers. It is one of the main ways that the NUJ can pass on our message to stand up for journalism.

Like Vicki Morris I ask members to get involved in the Trades Council movement as delegates of their branches. The TUC has a Directory of Trades Councils.
