We are not alone

THE UNION’S latest full-time official is Ian McGuinness, who became assistant organiser at the union’s office in Dublin in January.

For the last six years he has been Father of the NUJ chapel at the Irish Medical Times which is owned by the Reed Elsevier group. As at RBI, the chapel has achieved recognition and a comprehensive agreement. It has100 per cent membership among the 17 journalists.

Ian McGuinness says: “The great thing about the union is that people are not alone. We have to build their power as part of a wider movement that has strength nationally and internationally.”
