Can’t call them ‘journalists’
THE PORTAKABIN company is as famous among journalists for its “brand name bullying” as for its excellent, sturdy onsite temporary office housing units. Anyone who calls one of its inferior rivals a Portakabin gets a lawyer’s letter threatening action.
In America they have the opposite phenomenon: a publication threatening companies. Entrepreneur magazine claims it has trademarked the word “entrepreneur” and that ALL trade use of it violates its rights. It has brought 40 cases in the US courts, winning $1.4 million from a California company calling itself EntrepreneurPR. This covers the UK as well, for Entrepreneur has registered the trademark in numerous countries.
An idea for the Journalist here.
