She’s doing good things
A FORMER NUJ Mother of Chapel is well into a career as novelist, with a second likely best-seller out this month.
Linda Green’s first, I Did a Bad Thing, was set in a local paper in Birmingham. It sold 75,000 copies and spent 11 weeks in the best-seller charts.
Now comes 10 Reasons Not to Fall in Love, which follows Jo, a single mum, as she returns to work as a TV news reporter in Manchester.
Linda Green was a reporter and Mother of the NUJ chapels at the Birmingham MetroNews and the Coventry Evening Telegraph in the 1990s before turning freelance.
She says: “I know lots of my former colleagues are going through a tough time right now with all the cutbacks and redundancies. Having taken a few pot-shots at regional newspaper managers last time, I felt it was time to take a look at the TV executives who seem intent on centralising and dumbing down local TV news.”
