Women reporters are debased
FOUR WOMEN journalists in Sierra Leone were stripped naked in public while reporting events to mark the international day against female circumcision.
They were attacked and abducted by supporters of the Pro-Female Genital Mutilation group who forced them to walk naked through the streets of the town of Kenema on February 9.
The women were freed after the intervention of the police and human rights organisations.
The Sierra Leone Journalists Association demanded that the government act to curb such “acts of barbarism and discrimination against female journalists”.
