Equal pay is just the job

AS A MEMBER of the NUJ’s Bury and Bolton chapel and a supporter of the Fawcett Society, I would like to say how pleased I am to see that the union is backing the equal pay campaign. I believe that issues relating to women are often overlooked in an industry where long hours and low pay have become the norm.

The media print stories about industries affected by the pay gap, but journalism often escapes unscathed and I am pleased that it is being brought to the attention of NUJ members.

I look forward to seeing the impact that the campaign has for the many women being penalised because of their gender.
