A CJ could do better than Bell
I WAS astounded by a particularly witless Steve Bell cartoon on the letters page of the last issue. Surely with all the talent there is in journalism the use of an expletive in a cartoon is an example of expression aimed at the lowest common denominator.
I believe that journalists have a duty to report the news accurately first and secondly to make it entertaining. This cartoon does neither. We need more from talented staff than a low brow vitriolic attack on a newspaper chief executive.
If this is the best we can do perhaps we should just let citizen journalists take over and see if they can do better.

I WOULD class myself as one of those people that think swearing and bad language are a disease in society fit for the chavs and stupid of the world.
I don’t like to hear it and I definitely don’t like to see it in print, weakening our language.
To see it in a cartoon in the Journalist is unforgivable. The cartoon wasn’t funny either.
