Shorthand fist survives broken wrist

A BROKEN wrist did not stop Northern Echo reporter Will Roberts from passing his NCTJ shorthand exam and his determination won him a special award.

From January to April last year he could not use his hand, but in May, just six weeks after the plaster came off, he got his 100 words a minute.

Now he has been chosen by onlineshorthand.com, the Teeline website, to receive The James Hill Centenary Award which is given to mark the birth of the inventor of Teeline in May 1908.

“This achievement is testament to Will’s dedication, determination and competence”, the website said.
