Spread the Journalist message around

MY WORKPLACE has a kitchen/relaxation area where staff leave mags (like Cosmo, Reader’s Digest and the National Trust magazine) for others to read at lunchtime.

As a PRO I have an uphill battle trying to explain to colleagues, mostly lawyers, how journalists work and the pressures you face.

I’ve started adding my copy of the Journalist to the mags in the kitchen. People have guessed I was the donor and have commented on how interesting it is.

After reading your report, one solicitor said the harassment of journalists at the G20 demo was disgraceful. Another commented on the bravery of journalists in Gaza. A secretary asked if she could show the magazine to her daughter, who is planning a career in journalism.

Enabling non-media people to read your copy of the Journalist might help to erode misperceptions and raise our status.
