Don’t discriminate when we’re 64

I APPRECIATE the union’s need to raise revenue and cut costs in this harsh economic climate, but does that mean the Journalist has to carry blatantly discriminatory advertisements for travel insurance (AIS ad last issue page 28) barring people over 64.

You would not permit an ad to appear that outlawed people on grounds of race, religion, sexuality or disability, so why encourage such ageist limits for travel insurance — particularly when an Equality Bill banning age discrimination in goods and services is before Parliament?
