THE NUJ New Media Industrial Council is inviting members to tender to produce a report on the new media industry. A fee will be paid. The research will map internet employers and locations around Britain and Ireland and produce statistics. The report should be of up to 12,000 words, to be completed by May. Contact Lawrence Shaw before January 21.

It’s Multi-Media Commission 2.0

THE NUJ is reviving its study of the effects of digital convergence on journalists’ work. The Commission on Multi-Media Working was set up by the 2007 annual conference to come up with recommendations for chapels on how to ensure decent staffing, hours, conditions and so on.

It produced a 55-page report, Shaping the Future, in December 2007 and now the national executive has asked the eight-member group to reassemble to find out how things have moved on in the last 12 months.

The last report was based on a questionnaire to chapels and a revised one will be sent to all chapels early in the new year.
