Big no to tiny offer
NUJ members at Thomson Reuters in London have unanimously rejected a 1 per cent pay offer and decided to ballot over industrial action. Management are offering up to a further 1.5 per cent based on performance.
The NUJ chapel has regretted “the fact that the company has once again ignored its collective bargaining commitments, and has once again compelled us to prepare a ballot for industrial action.” The NUJ won a guarantee in 2008 that there would be no compulsory redundancies in the UK editorial operation.
In November Thomson Reuters announced an 8 per cent rise in revenues. Profits were up by 1 per cent.
