RTE Pay freeze

NUJ members at RTÉ are voting on a pay freeze as part of a deal to avoid redundancies at the Irish public broadcasting organisation.

The plan is being recommended by the union as an alternative to lost jobs.

RTÉ has offered a small increase of €400 a year to staff earning less than €50,000 a year. For the rest the pay freeze would mean that an increase of 3.5 per cent due in March 2009 will be paid a year later, with a further increase of 2.5 per cent in September 2010. Grade increments will not be affected.
