NUJ training: Put me on the list for the next course

AS A NEW NUJ freelance representative, based in Seville, I jumped at the opportunity to participate in the pilot course for freelance officers held in Birmingham in November (right).

The chance to listen, talk, and work on projects with other people from the UK and Ireland was too good to miss.

This was a chance to share different thoughts and experiences, other ideas, see problems through other eyes, it was a real breath of fresh air.

The coursework often mirrored our own experiences as everyone searched for answers to situations and to find ways to avoid problems in the first place.

On getting to grips with the complex aspects of our working lives as freelances, and the things we have to confront, our energies were channelled into giving and getting the best from the course. We all agreed that we had a better and deeper understanding of what we could and should be doing for our members. It was stimulating, hard work and a lot of laughs too.
