Save up to £140 on a MacBook Pro
NUJ members can save between £100 and £140 on Apple’s range of stunning MacBook Pro laptops.
They are powerful enough for any journalistic task from video editing to page layout and online research.
The three-model range has the latest Intel Core 2 Duo processors and large hard drives. The MacBook Pro includes the latest graphics processors with up to 512MB of video memory, and Apple’s innovative Multi-Touch trackpad, first introduced in the MacBook Air.
With support for “pinch”, “rotate” and “swipe”, the intuitive trackpad makes it easy to zoom and rotate photos in iPhoto or Aperture 2 or to browse web pages in Safari.
An illuminated keyboard makes the MacBook Pro ideal for dimly lit environments like planes, studios or conference halls. A built-in ambient light sensor automatically adjusts the brightness of the keys as well as the brightness of the display for optimal visibility.
All Mac notebooks include a built-in iSight video camera for video conferencing, Apple’s MagSafe power adapter that safely disconnects when under strain and built-in 802.11n wireless networking.
Every Mac in the Apple lineup comes with iLife ‘08, the most significant update ever to Apple’s award-winning suite of digital lifestyle applications, featuring a major new version of iPhoto and a completely reinvented iMovie.
Every Mac also includes Leopard, the sixth major release of the world’s most advanced operating system which introduces Time Machine, an effortless way to automatically back up everything on a Mac.
The 2.4 GHz, 15-inch MacBook Pro has a 15.4-inch widescreen display, a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 2GB RAM, expandable to 4GB. It has 200GB hard drive with Sudden Motion Sensor and a slot-loading 8x DVD SuperDrive with double-layer support.
It sells for £1,299 on Apple’s own website, but NUJ members can get one for £1194.98 — a saving of £104.
The top-of-the-range MacBook Pro has a 17-inch widescreen 1680 x 1050 display, a 2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 2GB of RAM, expandable to 4GB. It has 250GB hard drive with Sudden Motion Sensor and a slot-loading 8x DVD SuperDrive with double-layer support.
It sells for £1,799 on Apple’s own website, but NUJ members can get one for £1655.58 — a saving of £143.42.
