BBC Afghan reporter killed
AN AFGHAN journalist who worked for the BBC was found shot dead on June 8. Abdul Samad Rohani was abducted in Lashkar Gar, capital of Helmand province. His body was found next day.
He had reported for the broadcaster’s Pashto service. Jon Williams, the BBC’s world news editor, said: “Rohani’s courage and dedication have been a key part of the BBC’s reporting from Afghanistan in recent years.” The Taliban publicly denied responsibility for the killing.
Five Afghan journalists were killed in 2007.
